Dancehall artiste Ishawna is currently grieving the death of her elderly grandmother, Ruby, who recently passed away, and she took to social media on Wednesday to share how the loss has been affecting her.
The artiste, born Ishawna Smith, has been abroad for some time now, as she remains a mainstay in Vybz Kartel’s entourage, occasionally joining his performances. The Worth It singer recently joined Kartel on stage at the Wireless music festival in the United Kingdom to perform her song Restraining Order as well as their collaborative single Woof.
Amid this career high, Ishawna was unexpectedly thrown into grief, with the artiste expressing in a post that her heart is shattered following the death of her beloved grandmother.
“My heart is shattered… broken beyond repair. RIP to my beautiful grandmother!” Ishawna wrote.

The message captioned a video collage of clips from special moments she spent with the 84-year-old.

Ishawna further expressed how distraught she is after her grandmother’s passing in a post on her Instagram Stories.
“I can’t believe I will never get to see or speak to my grandmother again! Mama why did you leave me here on earth alone to suffer. Who will pray for me now??? I can’t imagine living this life without you… I’m so torn! #RIP,” Ishawna wrote.
The artiste did not disclose the circumstances surrounding her grandmother’s death.
