Following the discovery of the remains of a missing businessman in a shallow grave in Thetford, Old Harbour, St. Catherine, last week, two men have been charged with murder.
Humphrey Brown, a contractor from Willodene, Spanish Town, went missing on July 11. The 43-year-old left home in his Mercedes-Benz motorcar after reportedly receiving a phone call.
It is not clear what Brown discussed on the phone call or whom he spoke with, but the contractor was not seen or heard from thereafter. The police later found his vehicle in Alexander, St. Ann, and subsequently his body.
Wednesday evening, the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) laid charges against Leonardo Swaby and Nathan Williams. The men, both of whom are residents of Spanish Town, were charged by detectives in Linstead after a question-and-answer session that was conducted in the presence of legal counsel.
Swaby and Williams have been charged with murder, conspiracy to murder, robbery with aggravation, conspiracy to commit robbery with aggravation, and unlawful burial of a corpse. Additionally, the accused are also facing 10 counts of simple larceny, conspiracy to commit simple larceny, and engaging in a transaction involving criminal property.
A court date for Williams and Swaby has not yet been set.
