Detectives attached to the Constant Spring police are investigating the murder of a man in Stony Hill, St. Andrew, this morning.
The full name of the deceased has not yet been confirmed. He has been identified only as Rohan.
Rohan was shot and killed by unknown assailants at approximately 7:30 along Seaview Road. A motive for the shooting has not been established.
According to reports, the deceased is the brother of Orville Dennie, a resident of Airy Castle, Stony Hill, who was killed by the police earlier this year in St. Thomas on February 11.
Prior to his death, Dennie, who was also known by the alias ‘Marvin’, had been listed as a wanted man by the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF). In addition to being wanted for murder, he was named as a person of interest in relation to multiple other crimes committed in his community.
Dennie was fatally shot by the police in Port Morant, in the vicinity of Fish Cove. Reports state that an illegal firearm was seized after the shooting.
According to the JCF’s Serious Crimes Report, the St. Andrew North police division had recorded 19 murders up to July 12, a 42.4% decline in murders when compared to the same period last year.
