Five Killed in Trelawny Bus Crash

An motor vehicle accident claimed the lives of five passengers, 4 males and one female, who were travelling in a bus bound for a party on Sunday.

An injured survivor of the crash disclosed that the buss’s driver had lost control of the vehicle while trying to avoid crashing into an oncoming car which had reportedly overtook another vehicle. According to reports, the bus downed multiple trees before it crashed into a concrete pole, which caused some of the occupants to be thrown from the vehicle.

Seven of the passengers were transported to the Falmouth Public General Hospital. Two of the injured survivors were treated and released later that day; however, the current state of the remaining survivors is not known.

The deceased crash victims have been identified as 22-year-old Akeem Roberts; 42-year-old Dwayne Campbell; Simone Minott, Quanardo Owens; and Horace Tulluch. The deceased resided in Portmore and St.Catherine.

Residents of the community have expressed concern about the increase in vehicular crashes in the area. A nurse who resides in the area shared her fear of crossing the road due to the speed at which motorists often travel. She also said that they do not slow down despite seeing pedestrians.

According to another resident, accidents occur in the area every month.
