An investigation has been launched into what caused a vehicular accident that claimed the lives of two people in St. Catherine on Monday.
The victims have been identified as 44-year-old Carlos Pryce and 26-year-old Shandee Williams. Pryce was a resident of Burnside Valley and Williams resided in Westmoreland. According to reports, the accident, which involved a 2005 grey Honda Fit motorcar and a 2012 grey Nissan Altima motorcar, occurred along Old Harbour Road at approximately 5:00 a.m.
The Pryce, who was driving the Honda Fit, and Williams, who was driving the the Nissan Altima, were both travelling along the roadway when the vehicles collided with each other. Both the Altima and the Honda Fit were extensively damaged during the collision.
Emergency responders were called to the scene, and the drivers were taken to the Spanish Town Hospital for treatment. However, they were later pronounced dead by the medical staff.
The crash is currently being investigated by St. Catherine North Traffic Department. An investigation has also been launched into a crash on the Mandela Highway, which also occurred today.
During that incident, a public passenger bus, which was carrying several people, overturned along the roadside in the vicinity of Hydel High School According to reports, the bus plies the Spanish Town, St Catherine, to downtown Kingston route.
Initial reports indicate that several of the passengers were injured during the crash and taken to Spanish Town Hospital. Video recorded at the scene of the crash shows some of the passengers escaping the overturned bus.
