A member of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) reportedly attempted to take his own life after fatally shooting his spouse on Wednesday night.
According to reports, the incident occurred at approximately 10:20 p.m. in the community of Essex, St. Mary.
The deceased has been identified as 21-year-old teaching assistant D’Johnnay Peta-Gay Graham.

The name of her spouse has not yet been shared with the public, but reports state that the officer was a constable assigned to the St. Andrew North police division.
The constable allegedly used his service weapon, a Glock pistol, to shoot fatally shoot Graham.
After killing Graham, the officer reportedly used the weapon to shoot himself in the head.

He was later transported to a hospital for treatment, where he remains under police guard.
Graham’s murder is currently being investigated by the Richmond police.
It is not clear if she and the constable had any prior issues before the shooting.
The police have not yet established a motive for her murder.
