Building Contractor Gunned Down in Kingston

The police have launched an investigation into the murder of a building contractor who was gunned down by unknown assailants at Rollington Avenue in Rollington Town, Kingston.

The deceased, Kevin Johnson, was a resident of Tavern, St. Andrew, and was also known by the alias ‘Scally’. According to reports, the incident occurred after Johnson arrived at a house on Rollington Avenue on Tuesday evening.

The contractor went to the house with a female tenant who resides at the Kingston premises. Reports state that residents in the community heard explosions at approximately 4:00 p.m.

Johnson’s body was later found at the scene with gunshot wounds. A wrecker was later called to the scene to remove the vehicle he was travelling in.

Initial reports had suggested that the deceased was a licensed firearm holder. It was also alleged that his weapon and multiple other personal items, including electronics and cash, were stolen by the assailants after his murder.

However, the Kingston Eastern police have since confirmed that Johnson was not a licensed firearm holder. According to the head of the division, Superintendent Michelle Campbell, it is not yet clear if a firearm was taken from the deceased contractor.

“We don’t know if a firearm was taken from him… Investigation reveal that he is not the holder of a licensed firearm,” Campbell said.

Johnson is said to have been a well-known figure in the community, and his sudden death has caused an outpouring of grief.
