Mark ‘Mark 2 Harrison, the alleged leader of the 440 Drive gang, was shot and killed by one of his reported henchmen in Olympic Garden, St Andrew.
According to reports, Harrison not only knew his killer but allegedly recruited the man to join the 440 Drive gang. Reports state that prior to his death, Harrison and his alleged killer were observed together frequently in the community.
During their reactions to each other, both men were reportedly friendly, and there was no indication that there was any animosity or bad blood between the two. Reports state that the incident occurred at about 11:00 p.m. on Wednesday while Harrison was at home.
The accused reportedly approached Harrison and then pulled out a firearm and shot his superior multiple times in the upper body. Residents assisted Harrison to the Kingston Public Hospital after his shooter fled the scene.
However, he later died at the hospital while undergoing surgery for his injuries. Harrison had multiple encounters with the police before his death and was previously charged in November 2018 with shooting with intent, assault at common law, unlawful wounding, illegal possession of a firearm and illegal possession of ammunition.
Prior to that, the reputed gang leader was charged in 2015 after the police found a Parabellum pistol along with a magazine containing 10 rounds in his possession. However, he was later released.
According to the police, there is a significant risk of retaliation due to Harrison’s murder. The members of the 440 Drive gang are said to possess the capabilities and resources to cause harm, and Harrison reportedly had numerous criminal associates who may wish to avenge his death.
Due to the risk of retaliation triggering a flare-up of violence in the community, the police have named three men as persons of interest and have identified another man as wanted for murder. Courtney ‘Blood Stain’ Ashley, also known by the aliases ‘Orlando Williams’, ‘Biggs’ and ‘Alien’, is wanted for murder and shooting in the division.
Tevin Clarke of Seaward Drive, Damari ‘Kujo’ McKnight, and Mark ‘Passa’ Harrison Jr were named as persons of interest. Ashley, Clarke, McKnight, and Harrison Jr are to report to Hunt Bay Police by 12 p.m. on Friday.
