Taxi Man ‘Turboman’ Dies After Getting Shot in His Car
Investigators attached to the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) have launched an investigation into the murder of a taxi man, who was attacked by an unknown armed assailant.
The deceased has been identified as Winston Williams, who was also known by the alias ‘Turboman’. The 44-year-old taxi driver was a resident of Helshire Park in Portmore.
According to reports, the incident occurred at approximately 4:50 p.m., at the Naggo Head Transportation Center on Wednesday. Williams was in the process of loading his taxi when the assailant drove up on a motorcycle.
The man dismounted his bike and then entered Williams’ taxi. It is unclear why he entered the vehicle or if he exchanged words with Williams but shortly after, he exited.
Reports state that after the assailant exited the taxi he pulled out a firearm. He proceeded to shoot Williams multiple times.
The man later fled the scene of the crime. Williams was transported to the Spanish Town Hospital for treatment. However, he succumbed to the injuries he sustained during the shooting.
Portmore Criminal Investigation Branch, which is handling the investigation into Williams’ murder, has not yet established a motive for the crime.
