Teen Wanted for Murder Killed by the Police in Kingston 11

An eighteen-year-old wanted man was shot and killed by the police during an operation in Kingston 11 on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as Omario Coleman, a resident of the Habitat Housing Scheme. According to reports, the incident occurred at approximately 5:00 a.m. during a cordon and search operation for wanted men, guns and drugs in the Majesty Gardens community of the St Andrew South Division.

Acting on intelligence, a police team went to a premises on Majestic Pen Road which they suspected that wanted men had been occupying. The officers split into two groups after arriving at the house, with one group going to the left of the house and the other to the right.

Reports state that one of the police teams encountered a woman who was seemingly pregnant exiting the house with a child. After identifying themselves, the lawmen entered the house.

After the officers entered the house, Coleman allegedly suddenly came from behind a closed door with a Taurus 9mm pistol. The teen reportedly pointed his weapon at the officers, who took evasive action.

One of the officers fired his M16 rifle three times at Coleman, who fell to the ground with his weapon. The firearm, which had five rounds, was immediately seized.

Coleman, who was also known as ‘Dujon’, was later pronounced dead after he was transported to the Kingston Public Hospital. Prior to his death, Coleman was named as a person of interest in the murder of hotel worker Jadee Clarke last week.

Additionally, the teen was also a person of interest in the shooting of two men in Seaview Gardens, St Andrew, in April.
