11-Y-O Girl Sexually Assaulted After Being Abducted from Home in St. Catherine

Amid growing concern over violence against women and children in Jamaica, an 11-year-old girl was abducted from her home in St. Catherine on Thursday.

According to reports, the girl, whose identity is being withheld for her protection, was at home when the incident occurred at approximately 1 a.m. Her abductor reportedly forced her away from her home at knifepoint.

It is not yet clear if the child was at the residence alone at the time of the incident. Reports state that she was sexually assaulted after she was taken away by her abductor who later released her.

After she was freed, the child told her relatives what had happened. The incident was later reported to the Centre for the Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse (CISOCA).

CISOCA is currently leading the investigation into the sexual assault of the minor. The news of the 11-year-old’s abduction and sexual assault follows the tragic death of 9-year-old Kelsey Ferrigon, who was strangled to death after she was raped on May 9.

Ferrigon, who also resided in St. Catherine, was found in a barrel at her home, and her suspected killer was later shot and killed by the police.
