The mother of Giovani Ellis, the now deceased suspect in the rape and murder of Kelsey Ferrigon, has accused her son of being involved in the death of his brother.
Ellis was killed on Monday during an alleged confrontation with the police in Clarendon. Before his death, his mother, Lurline Williams, called for her son to be killed if he was found.
During an interview with the Jamaica Star, Williams expressed relief that her son had been killed. According to Williams, Ellis’s behaviour over the years caused the rift between them.
Williams, who was in an alleged abusive relationship with Ellis’s father, said that her son disliked her for leaving. She also believes that Ellis, her third child, had something to do with her eldest son’s death.
“Mi know say him cost mi big son life over Gregory Park, so it look like him come do this now fi cause this one life. According to him, mi nuh love dem because me leff dem father. Mi nah stay inna no relationship weh mi and you haffi go battle it out every day like a war mi deh,” Williams stated.
Williams did not share any additional details surrounding her son’s death. She went on to state that she would never support any of her children’s wrongdoing.
Some members of the public, as well as Williams’ fellow residents of Job Lane, Spanish Town, had accused her of assisting her son after Ferrigon’s murder. Williams expressed disappointment that her neighbours would attack her and her family over Ellis’s actions.
“I am so disappointed in these people because them know wi and know we have no ties with him. But them run in with long machete and big iron… with two little babies in the house! Tell me what kind of people dem deh? Them have heart?” Williams questioned.
Despite the looming threat of an attack from her neighbours, Williams said that she was more afraid of her son before he was killed. Williams shared that when she went to identify Ellis’s body, she felt little for the child she bore.
“Well mi did a expect say when mi look pon him mi woulda feel sad, feel breakdown… but no… When me look pon him, me look pon him and say, ‘This is the way you want go, eh?’ For a young youth weh a 30 year old, and you go Georges? Look at you now.'” Williams said.
She further shared that she has no intention to pay Ellis’s funeral expenses and instructed the authorities to do with his remains whatever they wish.
