Police officers fatally shot a man in a reported confrontation on Tuesday afternoon in Spanish Town, St. Catherine.
Authorities identified the deceased as Javon Bosseiosingh, also known as ‘Bossy’, an alleged don in Homestead, Spanish Town.
According to the police, Bossy was the target of an intelligence-led operation. They shot him during the encounter and took him to the Spanish Town Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.
Bosseiosingh was arrested on February 14, 2021, and charged with illegal possession of a firearm.
Police officers claimed to see him remove a firearm from a bag and throw it on the ground.
On July 26, 2023, following a two-day trial, Bosseiosingh was freed after the judge upheld a no-case submission by his lawyer, Kemar Robinson.
Residents accused the police of foul play, claiming they killed Javon while he slept in his home.
The police reported retrieving a firearm from the scene.
