The lives of three motorists were claimed on Monday within hours of each other in three separate crashes in St. Ann.
The first accident happened at approximately 10:50 a.m. along the Faith’s Pen main road. According to reports, the deceased was a 21-year-old motorcyclist.
Police reports suggest that the accident may have been caused by excessive speeding, failing to keep to the near side or proper traffic lane, and “losing control.” The second St. Ann crash occurred almost two hours later.
The deceased was also a motorcyclist. He was killed in a collision along the Beechamville main road. Reports indicate that the main causes of the crash may have been “error of judgement/negligence”, pedestrian error, and loss of control.
The third accident in St. Ann yesterday also occurred on the Faith’s Pen main road. The deceased has been identified as a 66-year-old passenger who was travelling in a commercial vehicle.
The collision also appears to have been caused by error of judgement or negligence. Reports also suggest that mechanical defects or failure of brakes may have led to loss of control during the accident.
Vehicular crashes have resulted in 131 deaths from January 1 to Monday. In addition to the three motorists who passed away in St. Ann, another road fatality was recorded in Westmoreland.
The deceased was also a motorcyclist.
