Following a brazen robbery in a Halfway Tree clothing store in St. Andrew on Wednesday, CCTV footage recorded during the incident has surfaced online.
In the video, the thief can be seen trying on an item of clothing while observing the female cashier at the cash register. The man was wearing a ski mask, also known as a balaclava, which has become increasingly popular among young men since the COVID-19 pandemic.
After giving the cashier the shirt he tried on, the man pulled out a gun and aimed it at the cashier’s face. He proceeded to take several items of clothing which he packed in a bag.
The thief also seemingly instructed the young woman to unlock her cell phone, as she can be seen on the device before handing it over to him. The assailant, who at this point had revealed his face, later instructed the cashier to go over to the changing area at a curtain, where he joined her shortly after.
The video concluded at that point. It is alleged that the sexual assault took place after the events in the video.
The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) is currently investigating yesterday’s robbery.
