A nineteen-year-old male sex worker was shot and injured during an attempted robbery on Robert Crescent in Cross Roads, St. Andrew, on Monday.
According to reports, the teen, who is a resident of Gordon Town, had been robbed several times before this morning’s incident. Other sex workers reportedly did not want him to work at the location where he frequented.
Reports state that at 4:45 a.m., the 19-year-old was allegedly soliciting services along Grenada Crescent in New Kingston while dressed in female clothing and presenting himself as a woman. A man who was driving a grey Toyota Probox then drove up to the teen and requested the services that he was providing.
The teen entered the man’s car and gave him directions to a guest house on Beechwood Avenue where he conducted his business. Instead of driving to Beechwood Avenue, the man drove the teen to Robert Crescent.
He then proceeded to demand the teen’s handbag while holding him at gunpoint. After the teen refused to hand over the bag, the man shot him in the groin.
Despite his injury, he managed to escape and ran towards the end of Robert Crescent and then doubled back and went to Beechwood Avenue. He later collapsed after reaching the entrance of one of the guest houses in the area.
The police were notified about the incident and transported the teen to a hospital for treatment.
