Two brothers fatally shot by police in St. Catherine

Two men were shot and killed by the police along the Spanish Town bypass in St. Catherine on Thursday night.

The deceased has been identified as Jason Spike, a 33-year-old carpenter, and Everton Spike, a 44-year-old of a Port Henderson Road address in the parish.

Reports are that the Spike brothers gained the suspicion of a patrolling police team when they were seen heading toward Dela Vega City.

The police confronted the brothers, who then allegedly pointed their firearms at the servicemen.

The fire was returned and both men were killed in a reported shootout.

Everton was shot in the head.

Both men died on the spot and two firearms were reportedly seized.

The Independent Commission Of Investigations INDECOM is probing the matter.

33 persons have been killed by members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force so far this year.
