An intoxicated man was found dead in a pothole in Watchwell, St. Elizabeth on Friday night.
The deceased has been identified as 58-year-old Venroy Blackwood of a Ridge Pen District address in the parish.
Reports are that Venroy was riding home on his bicycle while under the influence when he crashed into a water-filled pothole on the road.
The police are probing the circumstances of how the elderly man died but theorized he drowned.
The body was found by residents at around 11:00pm in a puddle of water with Venroy’s bicycle beside him.
The police were later summoned and the body removed to the morgue pending further investigations.
The small community has been left in shock at the news.
