Policewoman injured, 9-year-old son killed in car crash

A 9-year-old boy dies after injuries sustained in a two-vehicle collision in Christiana, Manchester on Monday morning.

The boy, Traevon Sanchez was being transported to school by his mother who is a police officer, when their vehicle collided with a white Range Rover along the Sedburgh main road in the parish.

The policewoman, Constable Cobrina Crawford, attached to the Christiana Police Station was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

The incident happened at around 7:00am.

The police are urging the driver of the Range Rover to turn himself in at the nearest police station.

“We know who you are and we are in pursuit. We are appealing to you to turn yourself in”.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Gary Mckenzie, head of the Public Safety and Traffic Enforcement said 247 people have died in road crashes since the start of the year.
