A soldier was shot and killed during a deadly gunbattle along Charles Street and Chestnut Lane in Denham Town early Friday morning.
The young soldier was identified as Domville, more popularly known by his colleagues as ‘Ejay’, Dojo and ‘Pawty’
Reports are that the members of the Jamaica Defense Force JDF were patrolling the area on foot at around 1:30 am when they saw a group of men walking along the roadside.
Upon seeing the security forces the men reportedly fired at the soldiers.
The soldiers reportedly returned fire and a shoot-out ensued.
The men then escaped the scene on foot.
After the shooting subsided, one member of the JDF was found suffering from a gunshot wound to his face.
He was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The Jamaica Constabulary Force and the Jamaica Defense Force have launched a manhunt for the gunmen who engaged the security forces and killed one.
